Director Per Strand of the Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (DSA) met with his colleagues from the Ukrainian nuclear safety authority (SNRIU) this week. SNRIU has been significantly weakened due to the war and has lost many of its inspectors. This situation could impact the nuclear safety at all facilities in Ukraine.

On a general basis, Norway is concerned about potential accidents and emissions from facilities in all areas that could have consequences for Norwegian territories. An annual meeting to review the cooperation between Norwegian and Ukranian nuclear safety authorities was carried out in Norway this week. The meeting also included participants from French and Finnish authorities.
