Use of sunbeds is associated with increased risk of cutaneous malignant melanoma, especially if tanning sessions are begun at an early age, or with frequent and extended use. The Norwegian Radiation Protection Authority advises against the use of artificial tanning devices for children and adolescents under the age of 18.
