Nuclear Safety
One of the tasks of the Norwegian Radiation Protection Authority (NRPA) is to supervise Norwegian nuclear installations, including the research reactors owned and operated by the Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) at Kjeller and in Halden. NRPA has the legal obligation to make recommendations with respect to the IFE’s licence to operate its facilities, while the decision is being taken by the King in Council. An integrated task is follow closely the nuclear power sector in general, particularly in those geographical areas whose facilities may represent a risk for the Norwegian population and interests.
